Marchionne Manager Maleducato(Malformato): Mira Fuori

Exceptionalism That Doesn't Count

The advisors to President Obama once again prove that they are intent on measuring what doesn't count. I say the "advisors" because I cannot believe a person as savvied and dedicated to global unity as our president, the person for whom my whole family voted, would use such exceptionalism laden words at a University event.

President Obama, at the University of Texas, yesterday, called for the nation to
"lead the world in college graduation".

This seems to me selective, shallow and convenient exceptionalism, at best; a patriotic stimulant to achieve intellectual nothingness

Besides the fact that the number of people graduating is a meaningless metric of quality output, if we must be exceptional, then why not lead by example and urge the Country instead, to "lead the world" in (and measure):

- health care for all of our society

- free and accessible College study for all memmbers of our society

- commitment to peace by stopping military aid to various puppet nations we support.

- commitment to peace by closing all of our military bases which occupy foreign nations

- commitment to peace by no longer engaging in wars/invasions/missions, of occupation

- becoming the leader in true nature conservancy and pollution free environments

- not controlling/spinning/ media and truly supporting free speech and peaceful petition

- admitting that there no such thing as "clean coal"

- arresting our own war criminals, even if they are rich, government dignitaries

- arresting corporate thieves and economic criminals, even if they are mostly white, well connected, powerful and have sacks 'o gold at their disposal

- admitting that even our forefathers were "illegal immigrants", hence we all are!

- closing torture-based establishments that are uncivilized emblems of all that is counter to the Constitution of the Land

- stopping the obsequious and incestuos relationships with the self serving lobby army of pharmaceuticals, insurers, banking empires, corporate oil barons, arms contractors etc, which drain the economy and which are the causal connectors attached to our nation's current apocalyptic mess

When some day we muster up the humility and courage to want to measure the indicators above, then perhaps we will be in a position to measure what counts.
Because what we are currently counting measures only one thing: exceptional GREED.

Barracks Abominable

The drawdown from Iraq has been reaffirmed by the WHITE house; it’s all good…except a couple of little questions I have:
  •  Air bases in Iraq staying or going.?
  • Contractors in Iraq, many armed, -number over 100,000--staying, going.?
  • Carrier battle groups--staying or going?
And …Our green zone “Embassy” the most Abominable mega Barrack(image below) -- a military fortress, of course; but those who are even slightly awake know that’s not an embassy but a base. 5,000 or so armed "diplomats" the largest, most fortified embassy in the world— that’s not coming home is it?
Again our government and the press know that they are dealing with a somnolent public, which can be bamboozled at their whim without any pushback!

You can be sure we will remain in Iraq (and elsewhere is economicaly advantageous to the war profiteers) as long as we need to protect the gas pipelines…or we go broke doing it…or the gas runs out...!
While at home the economy and our own freedom disintegrates abominably.

Mondo Macondo and The Wall Street Bull

Their stock price rebounded in late trading yesterday, Wall street reported. Tony Hayward stepped down, sort of, to take over one of BPs operations in Russia and a new American CEO took over as BP has been "sucessful" in plugging the leak in Macondo. This mega media spin is a centrifugal bamboozlement blender, churning a super grande frappe' of lies !
But since we love everything spinned, centrifuged so it becomes an unrecognizable blend of whatever... and because the masses voraciously ingest this bland blend  with gusto, there's a great market for lattes, frappes, liquid grass, mushed fruits and now:  blended BP(Bull Poop)

  • Bull Poop! Stock price rebounded? What about the rebounding of life in the gulf?
  • Bull Poop! Tony Hayward, the CIO (Chief Incompetence Officer) is rewarded with a cushy assignment and intact benefits!
  • Bull Poop! A new CEO who is "American" has been put at the helm. This is supposed to make us feel better? The damage is done and he willl protect and feed the flow of Bull Poop!!
  • Bull Poop! Not a word about the shrimpers and native inhabitants whose lives depended on the Gulf. Have their lives rebounded?
The Bovine Poop will continue to flow upon a people intent on being silent in a dark (albeit temporarily comfortable) habitat well covered by BP since its inception.

Dear Mr President

Dear Mr President:

My family voted for you; with $ 300 billion about to be approved for more military spending, will you help my family a little? My son and my daughter have accumulated over a $150,000.00 in college loans; they have graduated and have been working hard to pay them; they cannot make ends meet; will you help them? Could you reduce the $300 Billion military budget by a few million (as I am sure there are other hard working students who could use the help). They would really appreciate it. By the way, my children do not own nukes and they are not terrorists. They can also make or enhance Powerpoint charts like the one I attach,  made by your own Military Command. They are very good, and could help.

We thank you for your kind Consideration!

“Public Good”

The title of an article in today’s NYTimes informs us that :

"Pakistan’s Elite Pay Few Taxes"
The article’s opening and self-righteous propagandistic salvo further reveals, accusatorily and without a scintilla of self-analysis, that:

The lack of a workable tax system feeds an inequality in Pakistani society, where the wealth of its most powerful members is not redistributed or put to use for public good."
Then, I guess  that

• the world’s largest taxpayer funded military budget

• the billions spent on political campaigns

• the world’s 37th ranked health care system

• epidemic and continuous environmental disaster cover ups

• rampant financial frauds

• pervasive predatory lending

• reductions in social services for the elderly

• our subpar public educational system

• our corporate profit driven University system

• our taxpayer funded bailouts

• the maintenance of military bases all over the world

• the maintenance of a health care system that is rated 37th in the world

• the support of sieges of innocent native communities, i.e. native Americans, Palestinians, Haitians…

are all paragons of  PUBLIC GOOD!

BP OIL: A GAME OF GREED

LONDON -- An obscure BP-themed board game in which players aim to avoid rig disasters has become an unexpected hit at a British toy museum.

BP Offshore Oil Strike was released in the early 1970s and allows up to four players to explore for oil, build platforms and construct pipelines. The first player to earn $120,000,000 wins.

Its "hazard cards" include "Blow-out! Rig damaged. Oil slick clean-up costs. Pay $1million.",,,
